You Are Not Your Beliefs

Here’s how I recently dismantled an old belief of mine that was keeping me stuck in my life and I didn’t even realize it. It all started when my husband asked me what I would do if I could do anything I ever wanted. I quickly said I wanted to travel. Our conversation then turned toward all the reasons why this isn’t possible. Hint: all “reasons” and excuses are old beliefs. For example, here’s what we uncovered were our beliefs about why we couldn’t travel: 1) we had to wait until our kids were out of high school: 2) we had to wait until we retired from our jobs: 3) we needed to save more money…

Next, we started to dismantle our beliefs by starting with the biggest challenge to overcome. The dismantling process begins when you start to question your beliefs. See if you can prove them wrong. It’s good to ask other people what they think about your beliefs. Get outside reflection from others. This is a great way to squash a belief!

For me, this meant going directly to my daughters and asking them if they wanted to travel — or stay in high school and graduate with their friends? They were ecstatic! Jumping up and down in excitement, this proved my number one belief false. My husband and I continued this process — until all of our limiting beliefs about traveling were dismantled.

What happened next unfolded effortlessly and a huge life shift occurred as a result, because when you dismantle a belief, it makes room for something completely unknown and unexpected to enter in. Warning: you have to be ready to receive something magical from the divine if you do this. It takes a lot of trust in the universe. Trusting that “it” knows exactly what you need. I am always amazed at how much more brilliant the gifts from the universe are — compared to the ones I dream up for myself.

Immediately after dismantling my travel beliefs, I was invited as a special guest to attend an event in Australia for three weeks. While I was in Australia, I was invited to go to India to work on a global detox and weight loss project… This was not what I had in mind. This was far better! (I actually imagined driving in an RV around North America with my daughters.)

Since returning from Australia, we have rented out our house, found a virtual high school for our daughters and we are leaving for India in less than a week. It was like a tsunami hit us just as soon as we made the conscious choice to travel and didn’t give our programmed patterned beliefs any more energy. If you are not making conscious choices, your subconscious is making your decisions without you even knowing it. The moment you are not present and mindful in each moment, you are being led by your unconscious programming.

Salt is an essential nutrient. Our body requires sodium (contained in salt) for all of our cells to function properly, especially our brain and nervous system. The human body cannot produce sodium, and therefore, it must come from the foods we eat and from the salt we put on our food.
